How Sweet the Sound

The Houston Christian Choir holds a prestigious position as one of the oldest student organizations on campus, renowned for its exceptional performance. Houston Christian High School's choral music program is dedicated to fostering the growth of individuals who will contribute positively to society in a warm and supportive Christian setting. The program places a strong emphasis on enhancing each student's vocal abilities and exploring various musical genres through a rigorous literature curriculum. The Houston Christian Choir aims to instill in its students a deep appreciation for all forms of fine arts while striving for excellence as a group in honor of God.

Houston Christian acknowledges the vital role of fine arts education in providing a well-rounded education. The choir students are encouraged to utilize their talents and knowledge to serve others and carry out their responsibilities in life.

Chorale

The Houston Christian Chorale comprises singers from every facet of the Houston Christian High School community. This ensemble meets every morning during FAB block. Integral to the Fine Arts experience at Houston Christian High School is the ability to participate in many performing arts ensembles, including dance, theatre, band, choir, and orchestra. Students can participate in multiple activities, as the instructors wish to allow all students to celebrate their abilities within our programs.

Students in the Choral Program at Houston Christian High School learn basic theory, music reading, part singing, and individual and group vocal techniques. These skills also cross over to other programs like our Worship Band and Theatre program. We sing music from all genres of choral literature, including classical, twentieth-century, madrigals, doo-wop, gospel, and jazz. Performance is an ensemble emphasis, with opportunities for ensemble and individual performance.

Additional Opportunities

Fall opportunities will grow to include small ensembles for students looking for additional choral options. We are always looking for opportunities to perfect and share our craft with the community.
Additionally, the choir program at Houston Christian High School seeks to grow community among our singers through social activities throughout the school year, as well as social and administrative officers.
