2024-2025 New Student Action Items

Now that you’ve been accepted to Houston Christian High School complete the steps below to enroll as a full-fledged Mustang! If you have any questions about our enrollment process, please email Admissions or call 713-580-6020.

Confirm You're Commitment to HC

You're a Mustang! Each parent must log into their admissions portal to sign the enrollment contract. For each parent to sign the contract, you must use your own unique Blackbaud ID (your email address). The parent that was not the originator of the application received an email from Blackbaud with directions on how to create a Blackbaud ID and account. If both parents have not yet set up their account, please search your inbox for an email from "Blackbaud." Should you need further assistance, please contact the Admissions Office.

Transcript Release:
Incoming freshmen must submit a transcript release form to their current schools. Completed forms may be sent to the HC Registrar, Loretta Ramirez, or mailed.

*Transfer Students Only:
Welcome, transfer students! One of the counselors will reach out to transfer students in the near future to arrange a meeting to discuss 2024 - 2025 course selections. After enrollment, all transfer students MUST submit a transcript release to their current school upon completion of the second semester. The form can be found HERE.
Used Uniform Sale

The Mustang Parent Council will host a Used Uniform Sale the following dates and times:

Tuesday, July 16th, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
and
Wednesday, July 17th, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

The sale will take place on the HC campus. A location will be provided once confirmed.
Order Uniforms

Tommy Hilfiger is the uniform provider for Houston Christian. Please visit their website to order your uniforms. Samples and sample sizes are available in the front office. Click here for more information on how to order.

Outerwear for the 2024-25 school year will be restricted to outerwear from our digital store from Monday to Thursday. These purchases will all have the HC shield logo, which will be an easy designation that the outerwear is appropriate for Monday to Thursday. We have intentionally selected different weights of material at different price points that provide variety yet uniformity. Previous outerwear purchased from the Tommy Hilfiger store with the school shield will be grandfathered in as acceptable, although it will not be for sale moving forward.

*Please note that men are required to have one pair of pants as part of their uniform. Although HC does not have a chapel dress, there are occasions where pants for men are mandatory.

2024-25 9th Grade Course Selection Worksheet
Attend a Jump Start Session

We are delighted to have you as a Mustang and look forward to working with you over the coming weeks to prepare for your first year at HC! Our Jump Start Program is the first step of your academic journey. It is the perfect opportunity for you to meet other students and "test" drive the HC classroom experience.

During your session, you will be expected to have started a book and reading assignment for a Summer Reading selection in English I or English Honors I. To see the selections and to order, please refer to the Summer Reading tab on the Accepted Students webpage. This information will be available soon.

Jump Start sessions are as follows. Please click HERE to register for a session.

Session 1: July 15 - 18th, 9:00 am to Noon
Session 2: July 15 - 18th, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Session 3: July 22 - 25th, 9:00 am to Noon
Session 4: July 22 - 25th, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Jump Start is $250 and will be billed through your Blackbaud Tuition Management account.

Please make sure you have paid for your student's laptop prior to the beginning of your session.

* We want to ensure that your student doesn't miss a moment of Jump Start, so please email his/her immunization records to clinic@houstonchristian.org no later than July 1. Per state law, students are not allowed on campus until immunization records have been received.
Sign Up for 2024 Algebra 1 Summer Prep Class

This course is designed to prepare students with the prerequisite skills for Algebra 1. This course is designed for students taking Algebra 1 for the first time or repeating Algebra 1. This course may require about 30 minutes of homework each day.

The cost of this course is $400, which will be billed through your SmartTuition account, once you sign up.

Summer School “Preparation for Algebra 1" Dates:
June 3-6 and June 10-13.

Sign Up for 2024 Algebra 2 Summer Prep Class

This course is designed for students entering Algebra 2. This course is intended to strengthen students’ understanding of key Algebra 1 objectives that will directly impact their success in Algebra 2. It will review critical Algebra skills and concepts to prepare students for the new concepts presented in Algebra 2. This course may require about 30 minutes of homework each day.

The cost of this course is $400, which will be billed through your SmartTuition account, once you sign up.

All incoming 9th grade students must request their middle school transcripts be sent to Houston Christian High School. Click HERE for the form and follow the instructions on the form.

Order Your Laptop

Students are required to purchase a laptop and calculator package from Houston Christian.

Laptop Pickup Dates

If you are registered for Summer School and ordered your laptop, you will pick it up Wednesday, May 29th at 8:00am at the Tech Desk in the Student Center. This pick up is only for those students attending Summer School. A parent must come in and sign for the laptop.

For those who ordered the laptop and did not pick it up at the New Parent Dessert Party, please plan to pick it up one of the following dates:

Monday, July 15th, 9:00am

or

Monday, August 12th, 9:00am

Pick up at the Tech Desk in the Student Center. A parent is required to sign for the laptop. No students are allowed to pick up the laptop.

Provide Required Immunizations

All students must have state required immunizations on file before they can attend school and or practices for sports or fine arts.

Order Supplies
REQUIRED SUPPLIES
General Supplies:
- HC required Computer and Calculator
- Printer at home
- Appropriate textbook(s)
- One 2.5 or 3 inch binder
- 7 pocketed divider tabs (our favorite are the Avery Big Tab Insertable Two-Pocket Plastic Dividers with 8 multi-colored tabs – product number 11907)
- 3-ring punch (kind that fits inside a 3-ring binder)
- Loose-leaf paper (college or regular rule)
- 2 Composition Notebooks (You will need 3 if you are in Spanish 1)
- Highlighters (multiple colors)
- Blue or black pens
- Red grading pen
- Pencils
- Daily Planner – All students are required to keep a written (HARD COPY) daily planner. Best options are those with a weekly and monthly view.
Students MUST come prepared to EACH class with writing utensils and paper for taking notes.

Class Specific Supplies:
Teachers will distribute a list of other required supplies for their specific course on the first day of class.
Order Textbooks Once You Receive Your Courses

The bookstore is not open for ordering until June. Once you have received your courses from the HC counseling department, in the beginning of June, you may order your textbooks.

Transfer Students Attend Transfer Student Orientation, August 9, 2024

MANDATORY Transfer Student Orientation will be on August 9th from 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM in the Student Center. Please bring your laptop. Lunch will be provided.

Transfer students, one of the counselors will reach out to you in the near future to arrange a meeting to discuss your 2024-2025 course selections. You must bring your most current grade report to this meeting.

After enrollment, all transfer students MUST submit a transcript release to their current school upon completion of the second semester. The form can be found HERE. In addition, you must send or have sent by your registrar, either the official end-of-the-year grade report, an unofficial transcript, or the official to registrar@houstonchristian.org by July 19th for verification that all current courses and credits were successfully completed.
Set Up Food Service Account by August 13, 2024

Houston Christian High School’s Food Service Department is pleased to provide you with a convenient and secure online payment service called mySchoolBucks.

This website allows you to deposit money directly into your child’s school meal account and view balance/purchase information for the past 90 days. By having money in each child’s account prior to entering the dining room, we find that the lunch lines move along much faster, which gives your child more time to eat and be with friends.

*Please note that your student's ID number can be found in your online portal (where you applied for enrollment).

Attend New Parent Crash Course August 20, 2024
ALL NEW PARENTS SHOULD PLAN TO ATTEND

Tuesday, August 20th at 11:30 AM OR 6:00 PM in the Daffin Lecture Hall. Please choose one session.

No registration is required. All Freshmen parents and Transfer parents should plan to attend this is parent-only event.

Accepted Students Interested in Athletics

Athletic Physicals will be performed on the HC campus by Houston Methodist Hospital. This will take place on Thursday, May 9th from 3:00 - 6:00pm.
The fee is $20.00.

FOOTBALL
Congratulations on your acceptance to Houston Christian High School. If you have interest in participating in football this fall you are invited and encouraged to join us for spring football practices on the dates listed below.

Important Dates & Information:

April 24 - All Fall Sports Meeting
May 9 - Methodist Sports Physical at HC, $20
May 29 - DST Workouts - players may workout at any gym location. Workout will be provided by the coach
June - entire month - Open gym every Wednesday.
June 3 to 5 - Houston Christian High School Camp (If looking for more camps please let me know, another camp will be offered at the end of July)
July 29 to 31 - Middle School Camp
August 1 to 2 - Houston Christian High School Volleyball Tryout
August 2 to 3 - Houston Christian Volleyball Lock in ( Lock in starts at 8:00 pm Aug 2 and ends 8:00 am Aug 3rd.
August 5 - Volleyball Season Officially Starts!
August 9 - Vype and Picture Day

FIELD HOCKEY
If you are interested in Field Hockey, please contact Coach Kim Kastuk. There will be opportunities to play during the summer and preseason will start the second week of August.

CROSS COUNTRY
If you are interested in Cross Country, email Coach Bean. Practice will begin on August 1st, and recommended preseason workouts will be emailed beginning July 1st.

ATHLETIC TRAINING

DYNAMIC SPORTS TRAINING
If you are an athlete and want to be in the best possible position to succeed next season, DST is THE place to be this summer. Trainers will be offering summer sessions. Register now!

Accepted Students Interested in Orchestra

Dear Incoming Houston Christian High School Orchestra Students,

Congratulations on your acceptance to Houston Christian High School! We are thrilled to welcome you to our vibrant and talented community.

If you have an interest in joining the orchestra program, I encourage you to reach out to me, Nady Benyamine, the Orchestra Director, at nbenyamine@houstonchristian.org. I would love to meet with you for an audition to assess your skills and discuss your musical aspirations.

For the audition, please prepare one or two short excerpts of repertoire of your choice that demonstrate your technical and musical abilities. Additionally, be ready to play two scales of your choice, at least 2 octaves (3 octaves preferred).

If attending an in-person audition is not feasible, I am happy to accept auditions via email. You can record your audition and send it to me at the provided email address.

I aim to have all auditions completed by the end of April/beginning of May to ensure timely coordination of class schedules for the upcoming school year.

Accepted Students Interested in Theatre

Welcome to the HC Theatreworks family!

Freshman and Transfer auditions will be on Saturday, April 27th @ 10 am in the Black Box theater at Houston Christian High School.

Please prepare a monologue and a Broadway-style song of your choice. The length of each can be your decision, just make sure it highlights all of your talents. Audio connections will be available for your song accompaniment via phone or computer. Wear comfortable clothing. You will be asked to try choreography.
